Founded by Egidio Mucci, the Giovanni Klaus Koenig Center for Studies is a cultural association that was founded withing the Dept. of Processes and Methods of Building Construction in the Architecture Dept. of the University of Florence under the initiative of friends and colleauges of the late scholar. The Center was created to sustain and promote research activities around themes and problems relative both to Design and to Architecture. Texts and specialized materials, donated by heirs of Giovanni Klaus Koenig and housed at the Center, may be consulted during the opening hours by scholars and researchers. One of the activities of the Koenig Center consists in the network of contacts with public and private bodies as well as with similar international structures in the hopes of enabling parallel and integrated programs. The Center makes use of conventions with public or private institutions to make a series of cultural initiatives possible; to favor the practicability of the research being done, to sustain the feasibility of the initiatives. Each one, from time to time, coordinated by a specific scientific committee to supervise and to guarantee the maximum accountability. Scholarships awarded on themes based on topics inherent to the activity of the center for the diffusion of the same will be made available. The diffusion of the initiatives, research conventions or sectorial studies will be published in specialized publications, or in any event published to create materials to exhibit on the themes. Conferences, seminars and conventions will have the role of investigating the whole of the topics proposed by the Center and will represent an open confrontation to the various analysis and cultural options. |
